Standing Desks

Sit-stand desks and converters, judged on stability and daily use.

The standing desk is the only piece of posture equipment whose value is settled: the sit-stand alternation is the point, not the standing, and the trials that measure discomfort find the benefit in the switching. What is not settled is which desk survives three years of it. A frame is a stability problem before it is anything else, and stability is decided by column count, leg geometry and the tolerance between telescoping sections, none of which appear in a product photograph. Dual motors buy speed and even loading; a single motor with a cross-brace can be steadier than a bad dual. Load rating is quoted excluding the desktop by most manufacturers and including it by some. These guides read the specification sheet so the difference is visible before the desk is in the room.
